Anita is a Specialist Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist (as awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists 2022) FACP. She graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2009 as a Physiotherapist and also completed a Master of Physiotherapy with Majors in Women’s Health & Musculoskeletal Health at the University of Melbourne in 2014. Anita has also completed all four levels of DMA Clinical Pilates training, Dry Needling certification and holds qualifications in Sports Physiotherapy. She endeavours to provide holistic management for her patients combining manual and exercise therapies to help them achieve their health goals.

Clinical Services

Initial appointments: 60 minutes

Follow up appointments: 30 or 60 minutes based on your needs

  • Bladder issues can affect anyone at any stage of their life. It can include:

    • Incontinence/ Leaking urine:

      • Do you leak when you cough, sneeze or exercise?

      • Do you leak on your way to the toilet?

      • Not realise that you have leaked?

    • Urgency, frequency & overactive bladder:

      • Struggling to make it to the bathroom?

      • Do you get an overwhelming urge to urinate?

      • Do you need to urinate too often?

      • Do you get odd triggers to urinate like drinking too much caffeine or alcohol, coming home from somewhere or leaving home, listening to running water?

    • Voiding issues:

      • Pain or discomfort when urinating

      • Dribbling after you have finished urinating

      • Straining or struggling to empty your bladder

  • Bowel issues can affect anyone, common issues include:

    • Constipation: Straining to empty your stool or not going for days at a time

    • Not feeling the urge to empty your bowel

    • Urgency: Rushing to empty your bowels

    • Faecal incontinence: passing stool when you do not mean to or faecal soiling

    • Flatal/ Wind Incontinence: Accidentally passing wind

  • Pelvic pain describes a wide variety of conditions that can affect one or more of the areas listed below:

    • Lower abdomen

    • Perineum

    • Vulva & vagina

    • Anal region/bottom

    • Tail bone/ Coccyx

    • Bladder

    There are many conditions that can cause this including:

    • Vulvodynia

    • Vaginismus

    • Painful periods

    • Painful ovulation

    • Endometriosis

    • Adenomyosis

    • PCOS & PCOD

    • Pain inserting a tampon

    • Painful sex & dyspareunia

    • Coccydynia

    • Anal pain: including levator ani syndrome & proctalgia fugax

    • Painful bladder syndrome & interstitial cystitis

  • Pelvic organ prolapse refers to a sensation of heaviness, dragging or a bulge at the vagina. This sensation may be caused by a weakening of some structures in your pelvis causing one or more of the organs (bladder, vagina & bowel) in your pelvis to drop.

  • Children can experience bladder and bowel problems that can often be quite stressful for the family. These issues include:

    • Constipation

    • Soiling accidents

    • Bed-wetting

    • Daytime wetting

    • Dysfunctional bladder and or bowel emptying

    • Retention and chronic holding on

    • Pelvic pain

  • Sports and physical activity place unique load on the pelvic floor region. Your rehabilitation needs to be tailored to the unique needs of your training and sport.
